A group of contestants for positions at the All Progressives Congress, APC State Congress in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria held a parallel exercise to choose their State Chairman of the party.
The group expressed disappointment over the just concluded APC congress in the State, accusing the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the former House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, along with some alleged sponsored Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members of being responsible for the problem of imposition of leaders on them.
The Congress which was scheduled to hold between 10 am and 11 am could not start until about 5:30 pm when members of the National Electoral Committee arrived with some other members of the party.
At a media briefing, the aggrieved party members who held the parallel state congress called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the party at the national level to come and rescue APC in Bauchi State from the verge of collapse, before the 2023 general election.
