ABIA GOV CALLS FOR DECISIVE ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL MIGRATION

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, wants the Nigeria Immigration Service to take proactive action against illegal migrants whose activities have become a problem for the State.

Governor Ikpeazu who received a delegation of the Service led by the Deputy Comptroller General, Anthonia Opara at Government House Umuahia said the illegal migrants, especially from Chad and Niger Republic, have continued to perpetrate crimes along the Lokpanta and Isuikwuato axis of the State.

The governor also noted that the victims of the criminal migrants are mainly students and lecturers.

The visiting Deputy Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, thanked the Governor for his support and reassured him of the Service’s continued partnership of with the State Government.

Just last weekend, a student of Marist Comprehensive School in Uturu, Abia State was killed along Ihube road in Okigwe Local Government Area, a border community in neighbouring Imo State.
