ADVOCACY GROUP SEEKS PROTECTION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Written by on February 7, 2022

The Nigerian Government has been challenged to come up with workable policies that will help to check the exploitation and abuse of rights of persons with disabilities in the country.

An advocacy group of Young Nigerians made the call when they visited the Abuja School For The Blind at the weekend.

The coordinator of the group, Livinus Victor, said both government and other well-to-do Nigerians have failed to support blind children due to a lack of policies that will guarantee their safety in society.

The Headteacher of the Abuja School for the Blind, Rose Ugande, said there are a lot of untapped potentials in the children even in their disabilities.

The group has therefore called on the government to adopt full implementation of the prohibition Against persons with disabilities act 2018 to reduce stigmatization.
