Fans took to the streets of Dakar to celebrate and share their delight in the achievement.
Elsewhere at the Arc Du Triomphe in Paris, fans were seen waving Flags and partying into the wee hours of the morning.
Sadio Mane who had missed a penalty in open play scored the winning spot-kick to turn around the disappointment of 2019 when they lost to Algeria in the Final in Cairo, Egypt.
The Liverpool attacker was named player of the tournament while his teammate and Chelsea goalie, Edouard Mendy got the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.
Senegal also got the Fairplay award as Isa Kabore of Burkina Faso was named the Young Player of the tournament. Vincent Aboubakar of Cameroon carted away the Golden Boot, notching a total of 8 goals in 7 matches including scoring a brace on three occasions. The golden boot is the award for the highest goal-scoring individual player.
Senegal will be hoping to repeat the same feat when they square up in the final doubleheader playoff for African representatives in Qatar 2022.
