APC RE-AFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CREDIBLE ELECTIONS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment and support for constitutionally-permitted innovations that will improve the transparency and credibility of Nigeria’s electioneering process and internal democracy.
The party in a statement on Wednesday says the pledge is against the backdrop of Tuesday’s Senate amendments to the Electoral Act.
The All Progressives Congress vow is also a counter reaction to that of the leading opposition party, PDP that described the APC led Senate passage of Direct Primary for the nomination of candidates as retrogressive and one that seeks to wipe off all gains achieved in Nigeria’s electoral practice since 1999.
The ruling party says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reaction should be ignored in its entirety adding that PDP is only pretending to be an opposition political party.
The APC commended what it described as the patriotic disposition of the multi-partisan 9th National Assembly.
It noted that it is the right thing for the National Assembly to aggregate and consider the clamours by civil societies, interested stakeholders and indeed all Nigerians on all matters requiring legislation.
