The President of Nigeria’s Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke says the military government era in the country was more sympathetic to the plight of lecturers than the current civilian administration.
The ASUU President made the comparison in Abuja on Thursday at the unveiling of fifty tertiary academic textbooks by the Nigerian government in Abuja.
On the ‘no work no pay’ policy of the Federal Government against striking lecturers which has resulted in eight months of unpaid salaries, Osodeke called on Nigerians to increase pressure on government to save tertiary education from collapse
He said the core solution to the current brain drain in Nigeria is the proper and adequate funding of education.
