Bayelsa Queens Football Club of Yenagoa have opened up a -four-point lead over League Rivals Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt in the ongoing 2020/2021 season of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, NWFL.

The new status of the league table was confirmed at the end of the match-day ten fixtures on Wednesday that saw Bayelsa Queens secure a lone victory over Pelican Stars of Calabar while Rivers Angels lost to FC Robo of Lagos 2 -1.

Bayelsa Queens took on Pelican Stars with the ambition to maintain their top position of the Women League table while the Calabar Ladies came seeking for a favourable result that will take them off the last bottom three.

The home team missed several clear goal chances in the early stages of the first half but the perfection of a team training tactics produced the only goal of the match at the 34th minute when veteran Bokiri Joy connected Striker Vincent Precious cross to position Anjor Mary who shot the ball past the Pelican Stars Goalkeeper.

Moments of brilliance from the visitors Goalkeeper denied the host team from increasing the goal tally in the second half of the match but Pelican Stars delay tactics slowed down the tempo of the match untill the referee ended the game at the 94th minute of play.

The Centre referee Nweke Patience from Imo State had a perfect game as none of her officiating decisions were contested during the game.
