News coming out of London suggest that Arsenal football club have acquired the services of Chelsea midfielder, Jorge Frello Filho otherwise known as Jorginho for about £12m.

Jorginho has traveled to Arsenal’s base at London Colney to undergo a medical and sign his contract. The deal will be made official when that has been completed.

Arsenal were monitoring Jorginho, though they had their minds primarily on Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo, who was poised to join the Gunners. but it gradually became clear that the Seagulls were not willing to let off the Ecuadorian for whatever Arsenal were willing to offer.

The deal is believed to be until 2024 with an option for a further year.

Many believe it is a smart business considering the Italian would have left for a free in June, as it was becoming increasingly clear the Blues weren’t going to extend the contract for the 31 years Italy International to stay in West London.

Jorginho was interested on the chance to stay in London and the prospect of challenging for a Premier League title is something that intrigues him.

The Brazilian who moved to Italy at age 15, before Naturalising to play for the Azzuris, will be seeing the move as an opportunity of adding to his growing collection of titles should Arsenal go to win the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have called off their pursuit of Moises Caicedo after it became evident Brighton were adamant on not selling the Ecuadorian.

Jorginho was the alternative in this case for the Gunner’s, with Mikel Arteta being a massive fan of the Chelsea midfielder.

On their part, Chelsea are seemingly hellbent on seeing the purchase of Benfica, and Argentina world cup winning midfielder, Enzo Fernandez over the line just before the end of the winter transfer window reaches deadline at midnight.
