BUHARI URGES GULF OF GUINEA COMMISSION MEMBERS TO PAY UP CONTRIBUTIONS.

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Member-States of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) to pay up their outstanding Annual Assessed Contributions.
The President made the appeal today at a virtual meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the Commission today.
In a statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, stated that the delay in payment by the majority of the members’ states has greatly affected the ability of the commission to fulfill the mandate for which it was established in 2001.
The meeting was called to review progress on efforts to deal with the maritime challenges in the region.
The Nigerian leader, who is completing his tenure as the chairman also called for urgent collective action against the dangers and threats affecting maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea Region.
