Written by on November 29, 2021

The ever busy Benin- Lagos express way by Uselu market was locked down for several hours on Monday after bus drivers protested against alleged extortion by Edo State revenue collectors.

The protesting drivers said the extortion and lack of properly designated bus stops have brought untold hardship for them; calling on government to urgently intervene.

The drivers said they decided to block the Benin-Lagos Express Way by Uselu market to draw Government’s attention to their plight.

According to them, revenue collectors in the state government have continued to take advantage of the situation to extort money from them.

They also accused the revenue collectors working on Sundays which is a free day and collecting more than what the government approved for them to collect.

The protest left many travellers stranded for the several hours the action lasted.
