With just a few weeks left to the 2023 Calabar carnival, the Cross River state government says it is poised to restore the lost glory of the carnival, as new innovations have been made and some others reintroduced to achieve a successful outing.

With preparations in top gear, the governor Bassey Otu-led administration which will be hosting the carnival for the first time says it is ready to make Nigerians reminisce on what the carnival used to be.

Speaking during a press briefing in Calabar, the state commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang says the state is ready to accommodate tourists from the 30th of November 2023 to the 2nd of January 2024.

While still harping on the safety of fun seekers and Cross Riverians before, during and after the 2023 Carnival, the commissioner of police, Gyogon Grimah, says all security agencies in the state are doing their best.

Our correspondent reports that the Children’s Carnival will be reintroduced this year after ten years, while the Christmas tree lighting will be done simultaneously in the three senatorial districts of the state.
