COVID 19 UPDATE: NAFDAC TAKES CAMPAIGN TO ONITSHA

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control,NAFDAC has taken the campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic to the rural areas and busy townships of Anambra state.

The Director-General of the agency, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye was in Onitsha to re-educate the people on how to stay safe as well as contain the spread of the virus.

She said Nigeria is also suffering its own share of the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world’s population and economy.

So far, there are over 200,000 recorded cases in Nigeria with death toll put at over 2,600.

The director-general of the NAFDAC Prof Adeyeye says there is need to re-educate the people especially those in the rural areas and busy townships about the dangers in not adhering to the prevention protocols as outlined by authorities.

On the issue of high rates of fake drugs in circulation, the NAFDAC boss says intense sensitization needs to be done to help people identify fake drugs and punish its peddlers.

The agency also appealed for stronger public support to help it achieve a society free of adulterated and fake drugs.
