DSS tackles EFCC on building ownership in Lagos

The Department of State Services, DSS has denied laying siege on EFCC Lagos Command and preventing its staff from entering their offices.

The Service in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya stressed that the agency is only occupying its own facility where it carries out official and statutory responsibility.

The Service added that there is no controversy over No.15A Awolowo Road, Ikoyi Lagos State, the location of the building where it claims is the starting point of its Headquarters.

The Service further stressed that there is no rivalry between it and the EFCC over and about anything.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had earlier this Tuesday expressed worry over the siege on its Lagos Command by the DSS.

The Commission in a statement signed by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren said its staff were denied entry into their offices by DSS agents who barricaded the entrance with armoured personnel carriers.

The EFCC stressed that the development is strange given that it has cohabited with the DSS in that facility for 20 years without any incident.

It pointed out that the siege is inconsistent with the synergy expected of agencies working for the same Government and nation, especially when there are ongoing discussions on the matter.
