EBONYI STATE POLICE COMMAND RESCUE 3 TEENAGERS TRAFFICKED TO GHANA

Police authorities in Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria have rescued three female teenagers who were allegedly abducted and trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.

The suspected abductors, 20-year-old Chukwu Chinecherem, and 19-year-old Ogbonna Justice, were among the 35 persons paraded at the Command’s Headquarters in Abakaliki for different criminal offenses.

The security operatives claim they recovered 24 riffles and over 1000 ammunition.

Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Garba, who told Journalists that the case of abduction and child trafficking was reported against the two suspects on the 25th of August 2021.

Garba explains that detectives attached to the anti-human trafficking unit of the Command arrested them in their bid to abduct one Faith Ogbonnaya for the same purpose.

The suspects who are both from Ivo Local Government Area of the State denied the allegations, even as the alleged victims insist that they were trafficked by the suspects.

Offenses for which the other suspects were paraded, according to the Police report include armed robbery, cultism, unlawful possession of firearms and vandalisation of public infrastructure.
