EUROPEAN CENTRE TRAINS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN NASARAWA ON ELECTION PARTICIPATION

The European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), is training Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), women and youths to enable them to participate in the October 6, 2021, Nasarawa State local government election.
The programme, holding in Lafia the state capital, also includes separate training for the management of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) and media practitioners on their respective roles during the forthcoming council polls scheduled for October.
Project Coordinator of the European Centre for Electoral Support, Hamza Fassi, said the society has to improve on efforts to ensure that the voting rights of persons with disabilities are guaranteed and protected, adding that people living with disabilities represent at least 10% of the voting population an important pillar of the nation that should not be silenced.
Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electrical Commission, Ayuba Usman, expressed hope that the training with achieve its intended purpose, especially with the forthcoming local government elections in the state and thanked the European centre for electoral support for organizing the training and bearing all costs.
