Police in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a university don, Professor Dike Zainab, and other persons for allegedly brutalising police orderly, Inspector Peju Moses attached to her on Wednesday evening in the Garki district of Abuja.

The arrests were made early Thursday by a police team led by the FCT Police Commissioner, Sunday Babaji.

Video clips made available to Raypower FM showed a bloodied Inspector Moses leveling the allegation of the attack, accusing professor Zainab of being the mastermind. In the Video, she spoke incoherently, saying;

Oga direct somebody to take me to the hospital, am about to die, She sent her boys to kill me.

Inspector Moses also told Raypower FM that Professor Zainab was fond of asking her to run domestic errands, do menial jobs and house chores like opening the house gate under the rain, washing her car, or signing court documents on the professor’s behalf which she had always refused to do.

She also said, her refusals infuriated Professor Zainab, who over time serially subjected her to all forms of verbal abuse and continually threatened to use her supposed relationship with Inspector General Alkali Baba and other top police hierarchy as well as the IG’s wife to ensure her sack from the Force.

It was also gathered that the police have started an investigation into the matter and are likely not going to sweep the matter under the carpet as the FCT commissioner of Police Sunday Babaji led the team that arrested Professor Dike Zainab and two others in the early hours of this Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi while condemning the incident stressed that the inspector general of Police has directed the arrest and prosecution of the suspect and anyone complicit in the act, including one of the domestic staff of Prof Zainab who is still at large. Adejobi also said the IG has instructed the immediate withdrawal of all police detail attached to the Professor.

Adejobi said:

The IGP strongly condemned the grievous assault of a female Police Officer, Inspector Teju Moses, by her principal who is a legal practitioner and human rights activist, Prof. Zainab Duke Abiola, and her domestic staff comprising the housemaid, Rebecca Enechido, and a male suspect currently at large.

Zainab Duke, a Mbaise-born activist, grievously assaulted her orderly in the company of some accomplices on Tuesday 20th September 2022 at her residence in Garki, Abuja, due to the refusal of the orderly to breach professional ethics by carrying out menial and domestic chores at her house.

The IGP has directed the express prosecution of the arrested suspects who are currently in police custody, as the preliminary investigation shows overwhelming evidence of culpability on the part of the Professor and her domestic staff.

The IGP has equally tasked the investigative team to ensure that the fleeing suspect is arrested and made to face the wrath of the law. It is pertinent to clarify that the suspect, Prof. Zainab, who name-drops the IGP, his family members, and other officers in the top hierarchy of the Force has no acquaintance with the police in any form as erroneously peddled on social media.

He equally expressed disappointment that an individual who claims to be an advocate for human rights could violate the rights of another person.

Inspector Moses has since been taken to hospital for treatment.
