Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed regret at the use of the word “stupid” during an encounter with a Journalist, who asked the source of funding of his recent tours at a press conference in Calabar, Cross River State.

In a message he sent to journalists via his WhatsApp account, the former minister said after his late night meeting with his advisors yesterday, he realised it is wise to withdraw the word “stupid”. Fani-Kayode says he regrets offending his many friends in the media by losing his cool and using such words, but state categorically that no threat to physical harm was ever made to journalist in question and neither did he send anyone to threaten him.

He said he would never seek to physically harm a journalist, because in the last 30 years he has defended, worked with journalists and fought for the right of freedom of expression and would be the last to seek to disparage those that are honorable and noble within its ranks.
