FLYING EAGLES CRASH OUT OF FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria have crashed out of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina after losing to South Korea in the quarterfinal match on Sunday.

The Ladan Bosso tutored boys lost to the Asians 1 – nil after extra time following a 0 – 0 stalemate in regulation time.

The Junior Eagles were brimming with much confidence going into the Santiago del Estero stadium after a scintillating performance that saw them overcome tournament host Argentina 2 nil at the round of 16. But a 95th minute header in extra time by Choi from a corner was enough to see the Koreans progress to the semifinals of the competition.

The loss means that Nigeria’s hope of winning their maiden U-20 title will have to wait for another 2 years after coming closest to winning the trophy in 2005 where they lost gallantly to 6-time winners Argentina in the Finals.
