GUNMEN ABDUCT NINE PERSONS IN KWARA, POLICE RESCUE FOUR

At least nine persons, including a pastor and his spouse, are reported to have been kidnapped in two separate incidents in Kwara South Senatorial District of the state.

The two incidents occurred along the Omu-Aran/Oke-Onigbin highway and the Ekiti-Ekanmeje axis.

Six armed men were said to have waylaid a Sienna bus coming from Ekiti, a neighboring state, to Ilorin the state capital, and abducted all the seven persons in the bus.

Confirming the two incidents, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Command, Ajayi Okasanmi said, the prompt intervention of a combined team of Police, local hunters and vigilantes, led to the rescue of four abductees.

He added that efforts are still in top gear to rescue the remaining victims, including the Pastor and his spouse.

Okasanmi also maintained that some suspects have been arrested, and are helping the Police in their investigation, with assurance that the situation is now under control, as the patrol of all the routes in the state have been intensified.
