HERDERS/FARMERS CLASHES AFFECTING DEVELOPMENT OF LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY – NANONO

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammad Nanono says, despite the great potentials in the livestock sector, the ministry has not achieved much to ensure adequate supply, means of livelihood, and increase income.

Nanono who stated this at the flag-off of the National Livestock Breed Improvement Programme in Kano State blamed the development on the incessant clash between herders and crop farmers.

The minister noted that the ministry is working tirelessly in the area of bringing an end to the herders and crop farmers conflict in the country.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Sule Garo, expressed the readiness of the state to partner with the Federal Government in the agricultural sector.

The flag off was done by the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero, who commended the Federal Government for the initiative.
