Igp Egbetokun orders restriction of movement ahead of the guber polls in Bayelsa, imo and Kogi states.

The Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the restriction of all forms of vehicular movement on roads, waterways, and other forms of transportation in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states during Saturday’s governorship elections.

Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the restriction would be effective from 12:0 lam to 6pm on Saturday in all three states.

He said those on essential services such as INEC officials, accredited electoral observers, ambulances responding to medical emergencies, firefighters and the media are exempted from the restriction on election day.

Adejobi said the order, which is part of the effort to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of the election, is aimed at ensuring public order management and safety of the electorate.

The Inec’s off-season elections are the Governorship elections scheduled to hold in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi state on Saturday 11 November 2023.
