INSECURITY: GOV. EL RUFAI CALLS FOR SIMULTANEOUS LAND, AIR ASSAULTS ACROSS AFFECTED STATES

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has called for a simultaneous air and land attack on terrorists across affected states.

He said the piecemeal attacks have not been effective to curb the spate of kidnappings in the Northwest.

El-Rufai said this on Thursday during the weekly ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential media team at the statehouse Abuja

He revealed that when attacked and chased out of Kaduna, the terrorists seamlessly move to neighbouring states because of the vast forest range.

El-Rufai said the terrorists, are engaged in kidnapping because of the lucrative nature of the “business” of kidnapping.

He explained that although a simultaneous land and air assault in all affected states may lead to the loss of innocent lives, his administration is willing to risk the collateral damage that comes with securing Kaduna State and its environs.

The Governor said his administration has invested in the technology that enables him to know where the terrorists are located.

With a budget of over N200m every month, he said his state remains one of the most committed to security.

He said before the end of May 2022, Kaduna will be covered with CCTV cameras and facial recognition technology that would enable easy crime investigation.

Speaking on his political ambition after his tenure in office, Gov. El-Rufai said he has zero ambition and aspiration adding that he was forced to run for the governorship position in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He explained that going by his background he never hoped or believed that he would be a Governor or hold any political position.

Gov. El-Rufai added that his administration in Kaduna has spent over 21billiion naira on Security in the last seven and half years.

When asked about the Debt profile of the state, He said although the state is still ranked the second most indebted state, the state investment in infrastructure is a testament to the good work being done by his government.
