INT’L GIRL CHILD DAY: BAUCHI GOVERNMENT URGED TO PROVIDE DIGITAL LEARNING SYSTEM

Written by on October 5, 2021

In commemoration of the International Girl Child Day, the Girl Children in Bauchi have urged the government at all levels to create specific policies that will ensure the availability of a junior secondary school attached to every primary school, equipped with digital equipment that will enhance digital learning.

They also advocate for the formulation of policies that will reduce the dropout rate among girls in Nigeria.

The theme for this year’s celebration for the International Day for Girl Child 2021 is “Digital Generation, our Digital Revolution Not Without Girls”.

The programme was attended by the wife of the Bauchi State governor, Aisha Bala Muhammad.

The girls also submitted their request to the government for action

The UNICEF on their part said, even though this year’s celebration came amidst the COVID 19 pandemic, which has affected the enrolment of school children, they, therefore, advocated for Digital Learning, to fill the gap.

The Governor’s wife, Aisha Bala said the education of every girl child is a right, urging the girls to make use of the digital era, to enhance their learning.

As the theme of this year’s celebration entails Digital Generation, the girls are asking the government to make the facilities available in the public schools.

The girls are also asking for the employment of more female teachers in Bauchi State.
