Kogi Assembly gets new speaker

The member representing Lokoja two state consistency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Aliyu has emerged the Speaker of the 8th Assembly.


Umar Aliyu who is a first-time lawmaker, emerged unopposed on the floor of the house shortly after the proclamation of the 8th Assembly by the Clerk, Chogudo Ahmed who announced the absence of the Governor.

The Member representing Okura state constituency, Paul Enema, a returning lawmaker, emerged deputy speaker at the election, also with a contender while Yusuf Zakari was announced as majority leader of the House following a communication read by the speaker from the ruling APC.
