LAGOS-BOUND AIRCRAFT CATCHES FIRE MID-AIR, BUT ALL PASSENGERS SAFELY DISEMBARKED.

A Nigerian Airline, Overland aircraft carrying 37 passengers including crew members from Ilorin to Lagos caught fire mid-air on Wednesday evening after experiencing unusually high temperatures on one of its engines.
The incident occurred in the approach phase of a flight at the Murtala Muhammed international airport in Lagos as all the passengers who were unhurt were disembarked row by row after the plane came to a halt on the runway 18 right.
The pilots had sent out a Mayday to the Lagos control tower as an emergency procedure for a distress signal in voice procedure radio communications as The Pilot-in-Command of the distressed plane was reportedly on approach to Lagos when the incident happened.
The Lagos airport control tower consequently put the airport emergency response team, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s fire services department, Nigeria civil aviation authority, NCAA, Accident investigative bureau, AIB-N, and NAtional airspace management agency, NAMA on notice.
He finally landed the faulty plane safely on the international airport’s runway amid a fully prepared airport emergency response team
As of the time of filing this report, Efforts made by our personnel to reach the spokesperson of the airline operator for more information proved abortive.
