MINISTER CALLS FOR ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC ASSETS

The government at all levels in Nigeria have been told to do more in the area of maintenance of public assets, and see it as another viable avenue for creating jobs.
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said this during the 27th meeting of the National Council On Works held in Bauchi.
The Minister who described the provision of infrastructure as a legitimate way of achieving economic growth and development called on stakeholders to prioritize the maintenance economy to enable the projects to reach their maximum life span
Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammed, represented by his deputy, Baba Tela, appreciated the Federal Government for collaborating with the state in executing some strategic developmental projects in the state, which he said will help in changing the economic fortunes of the state
Participants at the meeting included the Commissioners Of Works from the thirty-six states of the federation, staff of the Federal Ministry Of Works and other stakeholders, while deliberations focused on how to strengthen policies and programmes that will secure public assets across the country
The theme for the council’s meeting is “Infrastructure Delivery, The Maintenance Economy And National Prosperity”
