NATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF LABOUR PARTY OVERRULES OGUN STATE’S SACK OF OKUKPE, OTHERS.

The National Leadership of the Labour Party says the purported sack of its presidential campaign director general, Doyin Okukpe is null and void.

Briefing journalists in Abuia today, the national secretary of the party, Umar Farouk said the Ogun state chapter of the Labour
Party acted outside its jurisdiction. He said:

It has come to the attention of the National Leadership of the Labour Party, LP that the Ogun State chapter of the party has purportedly suspended one of the party member who happens to be the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Committee.

The Ogun state chapter has acted outside its constitutional Jurisdiction.The party has internal conflict resolution mechanism of handling cases against party members as enshrined in the party’s Constitution.

Therefore, the Suspension of Dr. Doyin Okupe from the party by the Ogun state chapter is null and void. He still remains a card carrying member of the Labour Party and the DG of the Presidential Campaign Council.

The Party in solidly united behind the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council.

He advised the state chapter not to allow itself, to be used by politicians who feel threatened by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

The party also called on security agencies to be more proactive in the protection of lives and property.

At a news briefing in Abeokuta on Thursday, the state chairman of the party, Michael Ashade had announced the sack of Dr. Doyin Okupe and 10 others from the party over non-payment of financial membership dues, high-handedness and financial recklessness.
