NIGERIA RECEIVES HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS DOSES OF ASTRAZENECA VACCINE FROM UNITED KINGDOM.

Nigeria has received 699,760 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines from the United kingdom.

Acting British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Atkinson said the donation from the UK government is part of the 80 million doses the country had pledged to support the Covid-19 fight.

The vaccines, which were delivered through the COVAX facility, an organization aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of vaccines globally, are part of the three million doses of vaccines donated to 11 African nations by the government of the United Kingdom.

She called on the citizens of Nigeria to take advantage of the availability of the vaccines and get vaccinated against the virus.

The vaccines were unveiled on Tuesday by the Nigerian government at the country’s National Strategic Cold Store near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

In the meantime, the Executive D8irector, National Primary Health Center Development Agency, Shuaib Faisal has said that the vaccines will be deployed immediately, with priority on those who took the first jab.

I am glad to inform you that last night, we received 699,760 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the UK Government. We are most grateful to the government and people of the UK for this gesture.
