NLC/TUC TO BEGIN INDEFINITE STRIKE ON TUESDAY OCT 3

Written by on September 27, 2023

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC appear to have out their differences behind them, as they jointly agree to begin total, indefinite and nationwide strike from Tuesday, October 3.

The two Labour centres say the federal government has completely failed to meet the yearnings of workers and by extension Nigerians.

In a communique at the end of their separate national executive meetings held virtually and jointly read by NLC President, Joe Ajaero and his TUC counterpart, Festus Osifo, the labour leaders said the action is shifted to 3rd Oct, in honour of the country’s independence celebration.

The unions also asked their state chapters to mobilize for protests across the country.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong has appealed to the NLC leadership to shelve the planned strike, assuring them that the federal government is determined to address all concerns raised.
