There is heightened outcry among natives of the communities of Nembe local government Council area of Bayelsa State as the oil spill at the Santa Barbara well head belonging to AITEO hits three weeks since it occurred without hope of checking the attendant pollution.
Our reporter who visited the site of the spill reports that the means of livelihood of the people has been greatly impacted, just as the natives complained of hunger and health challenges.
The spill had occurred on November 5 but, three weeks later, there is no visible effort to clean up the pollution.
The people are displeased with what they described as the failure of the oil company to curtail the ongoing spill which has caused untold hardships on them.
The minister of state for Petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva was also at the site on the instance of the President, Muhammadu Buhari and
condoled with the people promising that efforts were being made to shut down the wellhead within the next two days.
