Over 60 kidnap victims have regained freedom in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.
Sources said the kidnap victims were released unconditionally by the suspected bandit’s kingpin Bello Turji who has been terrorizing people in Shinkafi and Isa local government areas of Zamfara and Sokoto States.
The sources hinted that Bello Turji freed the abducted victims because of fear of being attacked by the military through land and aerial bombardment in the areas in which several of his commanders were killed and his camp destroyed.
They said the notorious bandit’s leaders knew how Alhaji Auta and Kachalla Ruga met their Waterloo recently which forced him to release the over 60 kidnap victims.
It would be recalled that Bello Turji had written to the emir of Shinkafi a few weeks ago, seeking for dialogue with the state government to enable him and his commanders to lay down their weapons.
