PHC Leadership Challenge: Zamfara PHCB emerges best in northwest, wins over N185 million cash prize

Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board has emerged as the best in the Northwest for health care delivery, and has won over N185m Leadership Challenge.
Presenting the cheque to the Commissioner for Health in Gusau, the Executive Secretary of Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board, ZPHCB, Dr Tukur Isma’il, said the development is a landmark achievement for Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration in the health sector.
The award was conferred by a coalition of health partners including; the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, World Health Organization, WHO, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Global Health Alliance for Vaccination on Gavi.
The Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State, Primary Healthcare Board, Doctor Tukur Isma’I, said the state emerged best in the Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge, as a result of good infrastructure, repositioning of the healthcare system, and quality of data, as well as consistency in data generation, among others.
The Commissioner for Health, Aliyu Abubakar, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Aliyu Maikiyo called on all the health partners in the state to come together and work to improve healthcare service delivery for residents.
