POLICE PARADE MEDICAL DOCTOR IN EDO STATE OVER DEATH OF CAB DRIVER.

The Edo State Police Command has paraded a medical doctor over the death of a cab driver in Benin City, the State capital.

The suspect, Doctor Abass Adeyemi who hails from Offa local government area of Kwara state is alleged to have killed the victim on September 3, 2022, in Benin City and dumped his corpse at Otofure Community, after Oluku in Ovia North-East local government area.

While parading the suspect, Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State command Chidi Nwabuzor said Abass Adeyemi met the deceased, Delta-born cab driver Emmanuel Agbovinuere in Benin city in July this year when he engaged his services.

According to Nwabuzor, they later became friends which is why the deceased accepted the suspect’s invite again on the third of September when he arrived in Benin to engage his cab hire services again.

He said that was the last time the cab driver was seen alive.

The suspect who declined questions from journalists, however, pleaded with the family of the deceased to forgive him.

The police say a thorough investigation will be conducted after which the suspect will be charged to court.
