POLICE PROBE ALLEGED ASSAULT ON RIVERS GOVERNOR, FUBARA

The Police says it has launched a probe to uncover circumstances surrounding the security situation at Rivers state house of assembly.
Assuring that it would take immediate action against those responsible, the state command says it is actively addressing the matter.
The Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara had said he is ready to put his life on the line to defend the interest of Rivers people and good governance.
Fubara who stated this when he paid a visit to the state assembly complex to ascertain the level of damage following Sunday’s night fire outbreak at the hallow chamber also expressed shock at the attack on him by security personnel while trying to access the complex.
The fire incident at the Rivers State house of assembly on Sunday night and the Monday morning suspension of the leader of the house, Edison Ehie alongside four others is coming nine years after a similar occurrence in Rivers state when there was similar plot to impeach the then Rivers State governor, Chibuike Amaechi in 2014.
