Denmark joined Germany to become the first two teams to book their place in Qatar.
Denmark defeated Austria one-nil to maintain their 100% record in Group F on Tuesday. Four-time winners Germany had earlier defeated north Macedonia four-nil on Monday, becoming the first country to qualify for the Mundial.
Joakim Maehle scored the solitary goal for the Danes to maintain their perfect record in the qualification series picking up maximum points from 8 matches.
Elsewhere at Wembley, England’s ambition suffered an unexpected setback as the three lions dropped points against Hungary.
Roland Sallai converted a penalty in the 24th minute to give Hungary the lead following Luke Shaw’s rash tackle on Loic Nego while john stones restored parity for the home side 13 minutes later.
There would be no further goals in the course of the match as it ended all square. However, ugly scenes overshadowed the opening rituals of the match as Hungarian fans, jeered English players, by holding up banners in protest against taking the knee, a gesture now commonly seen across the grounds in English Football in solidarity against racial injustice.
