Legendary American born singer songwriter dancer and actress Anna Mae Bullock popularly known as Tina Turner is dead.
Tina Turner the Queen of Rock and Roll as often called was born November 26th 1939 in Tennessee United States.
The death of the renowned singer was made public Wednesday May 24th 2023 in a statement issued by her family saying she died peacefully in Switzerland following a prolonged illness.
Turner was reported to have suffered a stroke in 2013 and later intestinal cancer.
She began her career in music in 1957 as a background singer for her husband Ike Turner and his band “Kings of Rhythm” in St. Louis; under the name “Little Ann” and she appeared on her first record “Boxtop” in 1958.
The “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer later rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer;
after she got separated from her husband in 1978.
Tina Turner took a break from the music scene for several years following her divorce from her husband but later came out bigger to launch a string of hits with her 1983 classic “Let’s Stay Together” and the release of her fifth solo album Private Dancer in 1984.
Her debut solo album Private Dancer won three Grammys; selling over twenty million copies worldwide.
Proudly, the late rock pop singer Tina Turner is one of the world’s most popular and successful female entertainers of all time with a career spanning decades.
Her passion for acting began with a lead role as “The Acid Queen” in the 1975 film Tommy.
She also made an appearance in Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Tina Turner starred as Aunty Entity alongside ace Hollywood actor Mel Gibson in Mad Max “Beyond Thunderdome” for which she received the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
The singer who also starred in the 1993 film “Last Action Hero” has to her credit songs such as *The Best, We Don’t Need Another Hero, Proud Mary, Better Be Good To Me, Rolling On The River, It’s Only Love, I don’t wanna lose you* among other classic hits.
