RIVERS CRISIS: WIKE WARNS THAT HIS DECISION TO EMBRACE PEACE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED

Written by on November 11, 2023

The immediate past governor of Rivers state and now minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike says he would at the appropriate time respond to individuals and ethnic groups maligning his image with unsubstantiated allegations following the recent political disagreement between him and the current Rivers state governor, Sim Fubara.

In the meantime, Nyesom Wike says all he wants is the peace and progress of the state, but however, warns that maligning his name and spreading false allegations against him will only make matters worse.

The former Rivers State Governor also hits back at all those trying to give the political disagreement an ethnic coloration, saying that Fubara is governor today because he did not listen to them when they said that Opobo where he comes from is not a proper Ijaw community

He was speaking at the presentation of a book authored by a former Chief Judge of the state and Pro-Chancellor of the Rivers State University, retired Justice Iche Ndu.
