SENATOR OKOROCHA LAMENTS RISING INSECURITY IN IMO STATE

A Federal lawmaker representing Imo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly Senator Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday lamented the frequent killings, kidnappings and burning of houses in Imo state, which has become a norm despite the intervention of security agencies

Senator Okorocha coming under order 43(personal Explanation) of the senate rules during plenary laments that
in the history of Imo state, never has it been reported, the level of insecurity recorded on a daily basis in the state

The lawmaker noted that there is no single day that passes in the state without one ugly story of kidnapping, maiming, killings, burning of houses and shops which has put citizens in fear

Recounting that Two weeks ago it was the killing of a traditional ruler, last week it was the killing of a policeman, and just two days ago a soldier was slain in the state

Okorocha says this calls for serious concern, calling on the leadership of the Senate to intervene in the matter
to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the citizens of Imo state.

He added that the matter requires engagements with relevant stakeholders to find the root causes and lasting solutions to the matter

Assured that the National assembly has been consistent in finding a permanent solution to ending insecurity in the country

Adding that the 9th national assembly will diversify its efforts in getting the required solution to the myriad of insecurity bedevilling the country
