TACKLING INSECURITY : STAKEHOLDERS WANT SOUTHERN GOVERNORS TO FLOAT REGIONAL SECURITY APPARATUS
Written by Samson Ojeniran on December 1, 2021
With the growing spate of insecurity across the country, particularly the federal capital territory, Abuja has begun to generate more concerns.
Stakeholders who spoke to reporters in Warri, the commercial hub of Delta state want the southern governor’s forum to quickly implement the resolution of floating a regional security framework, reached in their third meeting held in Rivers state.
Despite the federal government’s claims of winning the war against insecurity, daily reports on killings of innocent Nigerians and reprisal attacks on security personnel in some parts of the country, say otherwise.
The southern regional stakeholders are of the view that an all-inclusive approach involving community leaders will strengthen and expedite the proposed Regional security framework.
Many believe that the federal government can only nip insecurity in the board and consolidate the military’s relentless efforts through sincere political will.
