The construction of the mini stadium in Kebbi, donated by the Federation of International Football Association Financial Assistance Programme, FIFA FAP 2.0 project has reached 95 per cent completion.
Addressing journalists in his office shortly after visiting the project site, the Chairman of the Kebbi State Football Association, Chika Ladan, said the project was awarded and supervised by FIFA and is awaiting commissioning and handover to the Kebbi State Government for use.
Ladan explained that the aim for the construction of the stadium is to also provide a training ground.
The stadium has a capacity of 250 spectators.
He added that the project is allocated across the African countries, while two slots allocated to Nigeria are sited in Kebbi and Delta States.
Chika mentions that while FIFA indicated an interest in the area, the Kebbi State Government donated land as part of their contribution.
The $1.189 million-project was undertaken by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, and supported by the FIFA Forward Programme.
The stadium helps players between the ages of 15 and 20 to enjoy training, especially, the new football academy boys.
