UN LAUNCHES 5 YEAR MIGRATION FRAME WORK

The united nation’s International organisation for migration (UN IOM) has launched the 2023-2027 strategic framework for Nigeria to optimize the country’s immigration and migration policies.

At an event in abuja, the international organisation for migration’s chief of mission, Laurent De Boeck says the strategy seeks to reduce irregular migration in line with the UN’s sustainable development goals.

De Boeck emphasised the goals of protecting migrants and Influencing border management In collaboration with the Nigerian government.

Meanwhile, deputy director general for operations for the united nation’s IOM Ugochi Daniels says the 5 year strategy could not have come at a better time.

He says the strategy is to focus on 3 main points which include resilience, mobility and governance to help local integration of migrants and utilize their skills.
