Suspected terrorists have ambushed police operatives, killing four of them in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.
The victims were said to have mounted a checkpoint along the Bungudu-Gusau-Sokoto highway to conduct routine stop-and-search, when the suspected terrorists, who were said to have gone to a certain community to rustle cattle, on their way back, launched the attack on the policemen.
A resident of Bungudu town, Kabiru Bungudu, informed Raypower that the terrorists rustled unspecified numbers of cattle from a nearby community.
Kabiru said the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. this Tuesday.
Efforts to get the police command to confirm the incident were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to the calls put across to him.
